Dione is a binary star system comprised of the yellow dwarf Dione A and the red dwarf Dione B. The two stars are separated by a mean distance of 42 AU with a near circular orbit around the centre point Dione*. The system contains five planets, of whom Dione is the biggest, from whom the system takes its name.

Dione A
Dione A is a main sequence yellow dwarf, similar to Sol in mass, radius and temperature. It carries 1.02 solar masses and radiates at 1.05 solar luminosities, with a surface temperature near 5780 K. It is estimated to be around 4.1 gigayears old, placing it in the middle of its lifetime. Dione A is expected to last another 6 gigayears. The star hosts both of the system's inners worlds.
Dione B
Dione B is a red dwarf much smaller in size than Dione A.
